The MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup 2 is a semi-slick, track-focused tyre developed using experience gained from endurance racing, and co-developed with the likes of Porsche’s 911 GT3, the Mercedes-AMG SLS Black Series and the Ferrari 458 Speciale. It’s DOT-legal for road use but built with dry track performance as the priority.

Key Features
- Multi-Compound Technology: A High Molecular Chain elastomer delivers exceptional grip through fast corners, paired with a rigid compound for precise steering control and wet grip.
- Track Longevity Technology 2.0: A highly abrasion-resistant compound on the reinforced outer shoulder is designed to deliver around 40% more laps on track than competitor tyres, on average.
- Deep, Track-Optimised Grooving: Deeper grooves than previous Cup tyres improve wet grip and safety margins on damp roads without giving up dry track performance.
- Motorsport-Proven Construction: Reinforced casing built to cope with sustained high loads and temperatures on track.
Technical Specifications
- Sizes Available: 19″ and 20″ diameters in this range, with the wider Cup 2 family spanning 17″-21″ depending on fitment.
- Construction: Semi-slick, DOT-legal track and road tyre dry-focused, with reduced wet-weather margins versus a standard road tyre.
- Load and Speed Ratings: XL construction, Y-rated across this range.
Performance Insights
Reviewers consistently rate the Cup 2 as one of the most track-capable tyres that’s still usable on the road, with strong, consistent lap times and outer-shoulder wear that holds up well over repeated track days compared with rival semi-slicks.
Why Choose the Pilot Sport Cup 2?
Choose the Cup 2 for dedicated track day and trackday-focused road cars where outright dry grip and lap-time consistency matter more than all-weather usability. Drive with extra caution in the wet, and always fit a full set of four.
